THE FIGHT AGAINST GALAMSEY IN GHANA !
The fight against galamsey is one that involves all and sundry as citizenry of this great and our beloved nation Ghana !
The alarming rate of huge pollutions on our various water bodies across board of this country has cause a great mayhem and havoc .
Unprecedentedly the pra river which serves as a source of water supply for most people has to shut down which has never happened before since it's existance 40 years ago !
Currenly With the operandi module by the activities of illegal miners some water treatment plants in some parts of the country, including Ashanti, Eastern, Central and Western regions has been shut down
Reports of acute water shortage surfaced last week in the affected regions due to the pollution of some river bodies by illegal miners popularly referred to as galamsey operators.
The Ghana Water Company is in the coming days will announce an increment in water prices to make up for rising treatment cost arising out of the gravity of pollution of its sources of raw water.
The report further indicates that the severity of the pollution demands a lot more treatment, making the cost of production very high.
Let's all have a shared responsibility to act swiftly and say no to illegal mining !
Leadership should enact strict laws and regulations to eradicate this canker !
